What is the mission for the rural people?

Our mission is to show the love of Christ in the Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh and to transform the lives of many poor children, widows and destitute elderly people as we are able.

About us

The Founders Story

Pastor P. Ratnam, along with his wife, Suneetha, founded the Mission for Rural People – India. He was struck by the tribulations of the street people at Bhattiprolu and, even as a child, vowed to help them in some way. Pastor Ratnam set up the orphanage which now takes care of 200 children and says that his main motivation is the love of Christ.

Issaku’s Story

Issaku was born in February 1995 and was brought to the Orphanage by his uncle when he was 8 years old. His parents had split up and neither wanted to look after him. Our UK Charity sponsored him until he left the Orphanage to take up a job as a baker. When, in 2008, he developed a bony growth in his knee, his UK sponsor paid for him to have the operation to remove the benign growth, and he recovered without any further ill effects. He is now 24 and has a wife and two children of his own.

Laxmi’s Story

Laxmi is one of our UK Charity sponsored elderly ladies in the Aged People’s Home. She was married, but her husband left her after 6 years because they could not have any children together. He remarried. Laxmi worked in a house for a family for many years. When she became old, they rejected her, so she had nowhere to live and no one to provide for her. One of the Christian Pastors who goes around the villages found her and brought her to the Aged Peoples Home where she is now living happily.
